The Beaches
Arenal Beach
The main beach of Javea is Playa del Arenal.
Around this fine sandy beach there is a walking boulevard with many restaurants where you can eat well at very reasonable prices. There is also a wide choice of terraces and cozy original shops. On the beach you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds if you want.
New paragraph
The Grenade
Playa de la Granadella has been named the best and most beautiful beach in Spain by the Spanish several times.
The beach is a small and beautiful pebble beach in a rocky bay, located in the southernmost part of Javea. An ideal place to dive in the crystal clear waters.
CALA D'AMBOLO
Cala D'Ambolo is one of the most picturesque beaches. It is located just below Mirador Ambolo and can be reached via Carrer Torre Ambolo. Sometimes you can't get there. Because there is a risk of falling rocks. You can walk to the pebble beach (by car via Calle Igor Stravinsky and Calle Giuseppe Verdi). Cala D'Ambola should definitely not be missing from the list of "The most beautiful beaches of Jávea".
CALA LES ROTES
Cala les Rotes are actually “beaches made of rocks”. It is located south of Denia, just 10 km from Jávea and can be reached via Carretera Provincial del Barranc del Monyo. You can park between restaurant Mena and restaurant Ca Nano. Cala les Rotas is actually a nature reserve. Whales are sometimes seen from here and fishing is not allowed in the area. There is a small pebble beach at the small roundabout near restaurant Ca Nano.
FRESHWATER COVE
If you go a little further south, you will arrive at Cala de Aigua Dolç. This swimming spot is partly a nudist beach. If you take a walk from Cova Tallada to Torre del Gerro, you can clearly see the difference from Mirador Las Rotas.
For the walkers
Popular hiking trails
There are so many hiking trails in Jávea that it is difficult to name them all.
But one thing is for sure, if you like walking, Jávea is the place for your ideal holiday. There are walking routes of different levels and duration. From a nice walk with the dog to a route with a bit more height difference and climbing. So there is something for every walker! These routes run through beautiful nature reserves where you can enjoy nature.
From Javea port there is a walk which involves a bit of scrambling at first but levels off into a long loop around the cliff top. Eventually you will come to San Antonio Cape or Cap De San Antonio. This is where the lighthouse is located which gives you great views over Javea on one side and Denia on the other. It is a short walk of around 1.5km but can take at least 45 minutes at a slow pace as it can be quite steep in places with a height of almost 200 metres from start to finish. If you can manage the first 100 metres which are the steepest then you will have no problem with the rest.
Cape San Antonio
From Cap San Antonio there are many other walks and hikes that head off in different directions. Along the Plana you can walk down to the beautiful sea caves of Cova Tallada or up the very impressive Montgo mountain. Another option is to simply walk back down to Javea harbour and sit in a café, bar or restaurant and relax after a rewarding walk. If you fancy climbing to the top of Javea’s Mongtó mountain you can park at the shooting range on the Plana and walk up. Make sure you take a packed lunch and wear good walking shoes. At the top the Montgó is approximately 753m above sea level. The views from the top are breathtaking and will leave you feeling energised. It is definitely worth a trip.
Cala Blanca
Do you want to experience the beauty but also want to take it easy? Then you can take a walk along the promenade at Cala Blanca. With the sea in front of you, you can enjoy the fresh sea air and the beautiful landscape. Even with those family members who are not so physically fit. If you do feel energetic at the end of the path, you can take a few steps that lead to a short circular walk with a view of the sea from higher up. It is a nice short walk and definitely worth taking friends and family who come to visit.
La Falzia Viewpoint
As you make your way to the Cabo La Nao viewpoint, there are several other viewpoints along the way. One of them is La Falzia. You can park outside of it and go and see the view. It can be deceiving at first because it looks like a viewpoint, but if you go to the right into the forest, you can walk quite a bit through the forest and along the cliff edge. It is a nice walk and great for kids playing in the forest.
Granadella Nature Park
Jávea has some beautiful natural parks including “Parque natural de la Granadella” where you can enjoy lovely walks. One of the routes goes to the bay of Granadella. A beautiful pebble beach that lies between two high rocks and with crystal clear water. This beautiful walk to the castle of Granadella starts at the beach below. This is a beautiful walk but keep in mind that it can easily take 4 hours. So you really should take a picnic with you so that you can take a break once you reach the castle. Definitely worth a visit and the walk there takes you through beautiful landscapes and a dry riverbed.
Santa Lucia Hermitage
From just outside the old town of Javea there is a lovely little walk from the church to the Ermita San Llucia on the hill. It takes about 20 minutes up and 20 minutes down and you can walk one way and then the other, so you have made a short loop. From Santa Llucia you have views over most of Javea. It really is quite spectacular.
Marine Reserve
Jávea has beautiful coves and beaches in sight of everyone but we must also highlight the beauty of its seabed. With a coastline of 25 kilometers where you can enjoy snorkeling and underwater diving and the marine reserve. The Mediterranean Sea is a wonder for its tranquility. Which allows you to enjoy in some places the wonders that are hidden in it. But the beauty of Jávea is not only above sea level but also on the seabed. Although it is not visible to anyone on a daily basis, it is available to everyone.
Cova Carved
Without a doubt, this place is ideal for snorkeling. This cave can be reached by kayak or canoe from the sea or by paths through the Montgó. On the edge of the rocky mountain you can enjoy a unique seabed.
Cala Tango
Situated after Cape San Antonio towards the port of Jávea. Cala Tangó is an area where you will discover the first wonders at only three meters under water. In this bay you can visualize yourself next to a low point and the octopus and schools of fish.
Cala Sardinera
Cala Sardinera, although it has a more difficult access is a perfect place. After a 15 minute walk downhill you will reach this small beach. An ideal bay for snorkeling and diving. The calm waters and the absence of swimmers give the opportunity to let the fish swim in the sea in peace. A perfect place to admire the wonders of the Mediterranean.
Cala Blanca
This cove, known as Cala Blanca, is located at the end of the coastal area of Jávea and is easily accessible. Walking through the sea you reach the second place Caleta. A beach located between rocks and mountains and is mainly frequented by small sailboats or motorboats. The ideal place to enjoy the tranquility and the wonders of the seabed.
Barraca Cove
La Cala de la Barraca or Portitxol. It is located opposite an island with the same name and has two different parts. Through a path on the left side of the beach between the rocks you will find the ideal place for snorkeling. Many different types of fish are there in schools together. It is actually an area with many very small islands.
Cala Ambolo
It has a maximum depth of six meters. At first a rocky bottom appears. Once you go deeper a new sea world really opens up. A paradise for advanced divers and snorkelers. It is best to explore this wonderful place with several people for your own safety.
Carved Cave
Cova Tallada is the most impressive cave in the Costa Blanca. A real jewel that is located in Jávea not far from our villa Casa Asombrosa and that will surprise you every time again. The cave itself is about 75 meters wide and about 15 meters high. It also has five large 'doors' through which the sea and light can enter.
Kayak of the Soup
Another possibility is to visit the cave from the Mediterranean Sea. And this both with a Kayak and Paddle surfing. The company “Ok Adventures” offers these excursions to discover the cave in an even more adventurous way. During such an excursion you see the cave from a different point of view. There is certainly enough space to canoe inside.
Swimming and snorkeling
In front of the cave is suitable for swimming thanks to a rocky outcrop that acts as a breakwater. The surrounding area is normally calm and ideal for snorkeling. They are shallow waters in the sea area between the Cova Tallada and a small submerged rock barrier. This area is protected from all possible waves. This has created a natural transparent pool. Ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts who can discover and admire the beauty of the Mediterranean seabed.

Because of the nice Mediterranean climate, the beautiful beaches and the characteristic center, this place is very popular to go on holiday. The village of Xaló, also often referred to as Jalón in Spanish, is a fairly quiet village located inland on the Costa Blanca. Xaló is best known for the wine growing that takes place around the village and the weekly flea market that is held every Saturday.
